A text message is raw SIGINT which they wouldn’t have access to, but if these men who were dismissed by McMaster were assigned to hunt down leakers and had TS/SCI clearances, Rodgers could pass SIGINT to them without having to get permission since leaking is against the law. Could be that THIS is how he was compromised.
